4th of July

This is a shot of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan's Independence Day fireworks, as seen from the Canadian side of the border. We're lucky here in Sault Ste. Marie that we get two fireworks displays every year near the start of July (one on July 1st for Canada Day, and another on July 4th for American Independence Day). Both displays are centered over the St. Mary's River and both can be easily observed from either side of the border.

This was my first attempt at photographing fireworks, and I was paying more attention to the timing of my photographs rather than focusing. So this shot was initially a bit out of focus, and I cranked up the sharpness in Photoshop to compensate. It still doesn't look quite right, in my opinion, but I'm posting it anyway because I'm happy with most other aspects of the shot.
